A Chinese university has created a one-of-a-kind “kissing gadget,” which has sparked interest and alarm among Chinese social media users. According to CNN, the Changzhou Vocational School of Mechatronic Technology patented the innovation. The gadget is marketed as a means for long-distance couples to have “genuine” physical intimacy.
According to the publication, the one-of-a-kind “kissing apparatus” with silicone lips includes pressure sensors and actuators. It is supposed to be capable of simulating a real kiss by simulating the pressure, movement, and warmth of the user’s lips. Besides from the kissing action, the gadget may also broadcast the user’s sound.
To utilise the gadget, users must first download a mobile app and plug it into the phone’s charging port. They may initiate a video call and send duplicates of their kisses to each other after linking the smartphone with the partner on the app.
Jiang Zhongli, the design’s chief creator, told China’s state-run Global Times, “I was in a long-distance relationship with my girlfriend at the time, so we exclusively communicated over the phone. That is where the idea for this gadget came from “.
According to the source, Jiang sought for a patent in 2019, but the patent expired in January 2023. He now hopes that someone who is interested in this technology will be able to develop and improve on the idea.
Nevertheless, the item has caused quite a stir on the Chinese social media platform Weibo. While some people found a hilarious side to the gadget, others slammed it as “vulgar” and “scary”. Others even expressed concern that children may purchase and utilise it. “I don’t comprehend (the device), but I’m completely stunned,” one customer remarked.
